I've Got My Whole Life In My Car: Bryan Parnham
In the twelfth episode of Perceived Value host Sarah Rachel Brown sits down with multidisciplinary artist Bryan Parnham. This is the third installment of interviews Sarah conducted during her time at Arrowmont's Pentaculum. (Listen to episodes 10-11) The two artists sit down and catch up on what Bryan has been up to since he completed the Core Fellowship at the Penland School of Crafts in February 17'. They talk about the logistics of life between residencies, do they actually enjoy teaching, and racking up rejections.
Bryan Parnham studied at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. His practice brought him to Penland School of Crafts where he attended workshops before being awarded a place in the Core Fellowship Program. During the two-year fellowship, he developed a line of jewelry that focused on non-traditional etching techniques and surface design revolving around his work as a two dimensional artist. His metalwork varies from collections of jewelry to singular, stand out studio pieces. The unique studio work embraces his diverse disciplines outside of metals including drawing, painting, and photography.
